Portfolio Building (Part 2)_
The aim of this course is to build portfolio of evidence to prove interpreting competence as set out in Signature standards for NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting.
Candidates will be supported thorough this course to ensure that they meet the criteria required to achieve this qualification. Putting into practice what they have already learned in the preparatory course. Applying Interpreting theories and working within the Code of Ethics set out by their registering body.
Candidates will be required to prove their Interpreting skills in a variety of domains: Health, Education, Business and Local Government.
The Signature Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting is designed to enable learners to work with confidence in various situations, understand and use complex language and express themselves fluently when using two-way interpreting. The qualification uses the National Occupational Standards in Interpreting (CILT 2006), which define competent performance in interpreting. Candidates will provide proof of their interpreting competence by compiling a portfolio of evidence, which is internally assessed and verified by the centre then Signature external verification. On completion successful candidates will be eligible to register as a Qualified British Sign Language/English Interpreter with NRCPD, SASLI, ASLI and VLP.
Entry requirements: a minimum of the CACDP/Signature Level 4 or NVQ 6 in BSL and other equivalent qualifications may be accepted. Prospective candidates will have their signing skills assessed at interview prior to being accepted on the course.
Course duration: 12 Months one weekend a month
Course fee: £6,000 inclusive of Signature fees (subject to Signature fee structure)
